Weymouth Veterans Home

The Weymouth Veteran’s Home property is located at 741 Main Street in Weymouth. The property is a single, two story building that will consist of 6 single room occupancy (SRO) units (each with a small kitchenette), a community room with a full kitchen, a laundry closet, common restrooms, and one office.

Construction began in August 2016 with the demolition of the existing single family home that was on the property. All appliances, and lighting are Energy Star rated and the building will utilize high efficiency components, such as the heating and cooling units, to ensure that no energy will be wasted, and that the tenants will have a comfortable living environment.

US Veteran Finds A Home

David Ortega is a retired sergeant and Iraq War veteran, Ortega lives with his wife and four children in a four-bedroom, single-family Quincy home that NeighborWorks® Southern Mass and the City of Quincy purchased and renovated for veterans’ housing in 2013. Before they moved in, David and his family were homeless. “As a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, I am truly grateful for being able to provide my family with a safe and comfortable home,” Ortega said. “NeighborWorks® has just been awesome: My kids love the house, they have friends that sleep over and play in the backyard. It’s just been amazing. I could not ask for more.”
